**Explore the Origins and Evolution of Comics in *Mir Komiksov. Issue 7. Izraztsy, Soviet Comics, Shojo Manga***

This seventh volume of the Mir Komiksov series brings together articles from Russian and international comics researchers, organized into six thematic sections. Issue 7 focuses primarily on protocomics forms, as well as comics and animation from Russia and the Asian region.

The first section traces the history of Russian comics from their origins in face tiles, Russian postcards, lubok prints, and children’s redrawn pictures. The second section moves to Soviet-era pioneer comics, modern Russian comics, film comics, and domestic visual novels. The third section collects studies on comics and animation from China, Japan, and Vietnam. Subsequent sections cover horror and tragedy in comics, American film comics, and social themes in comics. The book concludes with an article on Indian comics.

This collection is based on presentations from the VII International Conference “Mir Komiksov,” held online on March 25–26, 2022, at the Institute for Oriental and Classical Studies of the National Research University Higher School of Economics. A comprehensive resource for scholars and enthusiasts of global comic art.
